5 Ways to Wear your Summer Dresses in the Fall

I don’t know about you, but I went a little bananas this summer and bought a ton of warm weather clothes. And now that the temperature has started to drop, I’m challenging myself to incorporate my most-loved summer purchases into fall-appropriate outfits.

And what better item to try this with than the dress!

Sun dresses are an obvious summer staple, but here I’ll show you 5 ways to wear them in the fall.

Option 1: I absolutely love wearing wrap dresses in the summer. This one especially has a great ruffle hem detail and the cutest ditzy floral print with colors that are just screaming for fall. So to make this dress cold weather appropriate, I added a cute sweater with the same ruffle detail on the shoulder and cinched in my waist with a belt. If you don’t have the proper belt for this look, try adding a cropped sweater instead to show off your shape and keep your figure.

Option 2: Sure, your oversized button-ups are perfect for layering with a tank and your favorite baggy jeans, but there’s so much more you can do with them! Try wearing one belted over a tight-fitting dress, leaving a peak of the dress’ hem peaking out the bottom for a little added detail. I paired this look with slouchy pointed-toe boots, but combat boots or even knee-high boots would have looked great also.

Option 3: Another option for a button-up is to tie it at the waist to show off more of the dress.

Option 4: Not sure what to do with that basic black body con dress in your closet? I would typically style this type of dress with a blazer and heels in the summer time. Instead, go casual with a hoodie and a shacket and pair it with white sneakers. This creates an instant laid-back yet put-together look that is fall ready!

Option 5: Layer a spaghetti strap dress over a turtleneck. This allows you to add another layer to your outfit without covering up the cute silhouette of the dress (like a jacket or coat might do). Show off that shape!
